Support Hiroshima American Football Clubs

Dear friends and supporters,

My name is Chilamo and I served as a Danketsu intern in the summer of 2023. My main objective was to connect with both the local and the Hiroshima football communities as a Danketsu Fellow and an assistant football coach with the Hiroshima Hawks and the Hiroshima Raccoons. During my time in Hiroshima, I watched athletes with incredible potential perform and contribute to their community. These athletes could reach even greater heights if they had the right tools to guarantee their success. So I'm hoping to use this opportunity to give back!

In 2017 the Danketsu project began its journey with a simple yet profound mission: to connect institutions worldwide with the shared goal of nurturing global citizens. Since then, Danketsu has been a beacon of hope, bridging cultures, and empowering students and student-athletes to reach new heights.

With your unwavering support, we've achieved remarkable milestones. Nine institutions have joined hands, over 150 students and athletes have been enriched, and communities have been strengthened. From renovating a derelict house in rural Japan to fostering international friendships through sports, Danketsu has been at the forefront of positive change.

As we reflect on our journey, we're excited to share our most recent endeavors. The house renovation project, which began 7 years ago, has blossomed into a thriving hub for student-athletes from Hiroshima University. But our work doesn't stop there. Although Danketsu has since ended. Community organizers in Hiroshima and America are switching their focus to help support American Football in the region. As populations dwindle and issues of the economy intensify, we must support locals in pursuing their American football dreams!

Today, we're thrilled to introduce our latest initiative: The Hiroshima Football Fund. In collaboration with local athletes and institutions, we aim to equip future champions with the tools they need to succeed. While the renovated house serves as a home for student-athletes, it also houses a small workout area. However, this space is in dire need of proper equipment to support the training and development of local athletes.

Your contribution to this fundraiser will directly impact the lives of aspiring football players in Hiroshima. Your generosity will help send essential equipment from America and other necessary tools to ensure the success and stability of Hiroshima American Football for generations to come.
