The Hilltop basketball court was a place where my son, Chad Richmond, developed his love for basketball as a child, honed his skills on the court as a teenager, and found refuge from his PTSD as an adult.
Chad loved playing basketball growing up and found that he really enjoyed competitive sports. He played football and rugby in college and later he joined the Army. He fought bravely in Afghanistan, but unfortunately was injured and had to 100% medically retire from his military career.
After returning from Afghanistan, one place where Chad found relief from his struggle with PTSD was on the Hilltop basketball court.
The Hilltop basketball court is in desperate need of repair so that everyone in the Reading community can enjoy a safe basketball court to play on. Our family is on a mission to restore the basketball court to its former glory days and honor my son’s memory and the veterans in our community.
There are a number of ways you can get involved! You can donate and share our Go Fund Me, participate in one of our events, or volunteer. Check out our facebook page "Hilltop Basketball Court Restoration in memory of Chad Richmond.
Thank you for helping us make a difference in our community and supporting the Basketball Court restoration project, in memory of Chad Richmond.
