Hi, my name is Courtenay and my husbands name is Tim if you don't already know us.

If you know us you know how much our little boy Hiko means to us and our family. He is more than just a dog, or just a pet, he is family.

Hiko is almost 4 years old, and up until now has lived a very happy and healthy life.

On Friday 9th August, Hiko had to undergo a minor procedure for a laceration on his paw (he got this trying to say hi to the neighbours through the fence, he is always up for making new friends!). The procedure went well, but unfortunately Hiko was quite unwell waking up and aspirated stomach contents as he was coming off the anaesthesia, this meant he had to be put back to sleep and then treated as an emergency. Aspirating can turn into pneumonia, which can be very dangerous so Hiko was started on IV antibiotics straight away.

The vet hospital was not equipped to handle such an emergency as they are not a 24hr facility, so they did an amazing job at what they could do for Hiko an then handed him over to an animal ambulance who took him to an emergency facility.

Hiko is currently at the emergency vet hospital on life support, and receiving treatment.

Hiko has been with us through so much of lifes difficulties, and really is a high emotional support for myself. I really don't know what I would do without him, he really is an amazing, intelligent companion ❤️

As most people who have pets know, vets are very expensive and emergency vets are on a whole other level of expensive. We want to be able to help Hiko get better, and also help with his recovery the best we possibly can but we need help with raising some money and appreciate any donations we can get ❤️
