Hike to Fight Alzheimer's – 17 Miles & 7000ft Up!
Hello!
My name is Lee, and I will be hiking through the Lake District to help make a difference for those battling Alzheimer's Disease.
I'll be hiking 17 miles through the English Lake District mountains, scaling a total elevation of 7000ft, and wild camping on the summit of the Lake District mountains at the end of September 2023.
I'm embarking on this journey to raise much-needed funds for the Alzheimer's Society Charity. My reason for supporting this charity is deeply personal as my stepmother is currently battling Alzheimer's Disease. Every step I take, every hill I climb, is in her honour and for the countless others facing this devastating illness.
Why Alzheimer's Society Charity?
Alzheimer's affects millions around the world, leading to loss of memory, emotional distress, and a diminished quality of life not just for those diagnosed, but for their families as well. The Alzheimer's Society Charity provides an invaluable lifeline, offering support services, care programmes, and pioneering research aimed at defeating this debilitating disease.
The Challenge
17 Miles: A scenic but gruelling journey across some of England's most beautiful landscapes.
7000ft Elevation: It's not just about the distance; it's about climbing up, and up, and up.
Camping at the Summit: I'll be camping out under the stars at the highest peaks of the Lake District, showing solidarity with those who face the uphill battle against Alzheimer's every day.
