Highland Meadows Pool Cover Fund

Dear Richard Mather & Company, Current Highland Meadows HOA Board, and Highland Meadows Neighbors:
The state of our neighborhood pool is absurd. We're better than this.
Our pool looks like the one in this scene from Revenge of the Nerds 2. (**classic movie by the way).
What kind of people want to live like this? There is absolutely no reason why this pool shouldn't be covered in the winter.
1. Every year that we leave this pool uncovered during the winter, the long term costs of maintaining the pool increase.
2. When you drive into this neighborhood the pool is one of the first things you see. It's embarrassing.
With this in mind, I've done some very preliminary research on what it would cost to cover the pool and the bottom line is it's not going to be cheap.
Based on what I'm finding online we're looking at anywhere between $3,000-$6,000 to return this pool back to a respectable level.
If they would've drilled holes in the concrete when they poured it we'd be looking at a different situation. Alas, we are where we are.
Here is my proposal:
By my count there are 82 houses in this hood right now. I think we can raise enough money to get this done. So I've created this GoFundMe and started with a contribution.
Some notes on how we'll manage this money if the campaign is successful:
1. All funds will be directed towards a pool cover replacement project. 2. I will solicit a 5 person 'committee' to evaluate options, and reach a consensus before the funds are used.
3. Any leftover funds will be used to purchase OTHER pool items (furniture, flamingo floaties, beer, etc) .... OR donated to the HOA.
4. IF for some ridiculous reason the current HOA management will not allow these improvements to be made the money will be returned.
