Mike and Jade are overjoyed to be expecting a baby girl in July through gestational surrogacy—a journey they began with faith and prayer. Initially, this fundraiser was to help with the high costs of bringing their daughter into the world, but a lot has happened since the idea came to be.
In March, Jade underwent emergency surgery after doctors discovered an abdominal mass. The diagnosis—ovarian cancer—led to a full hysterectomy and an unexpected six-week unpaid leave from work. While the cancer is now gone (Hallelujah!), she continues to undergo testing to ensure it hasn’t spread, with potential further treatments ahead.
In addition to mounting medical bills, Mike and Jade are making ongoing payments to cover surrogacy costs. This unexpected financial strain has made an already challenging journey even harder.
