Hevy Duty's climbing route fund
Donation protected
My name is Peder Ourom, and I am raising funds for Hevy Duty ( Alan Stevenson ) to continue to develop rock climbs in the Squamish smoke bluffs. Hevy has developed many crags in Squamish over the last 20 years, including Free and Easy, and The Parking lot wall. His smoke bluffs route count is in the hundreds.
Three years ago the District of Squamish purchased ( $650,000 ) a "missing link " property on the blind channel for the smoke bluff park , and Hevy has contributed thousands of hours and large amounts of personal funds into making this one of the best "new to outdoor" climbing, and rescue/guide training parks in the world. Almost all of this development is unfunded. The cost of a new climb with quality lowering anchors installed is approx. $200-300.
Going forward, it is time for our community to support this world class route developer properly. All funds will be used for repairing anchors, rescrubbing routes, equipment, cleaning up debris left by previous route developers, and rewilding abandoned / unnecessary trails. Mentorship help will also be available, aiming the next generation of route developers in a technical and low impact environmental direction.
