Herne Bay Christmas Lights 2025

Aim- To provide Christmas lights in Herne Bay this year and to provide an ongoing fund for future displays and switch on events.

The Herne Bay Christmas Lights Team are a dedicated group of volunteers who work throughout the year, to fundraise and organise the lights display, operating as part of the Herne Bay Coastal Community Team. We organise the lights display and the switch on event which gets bigger and better every year!

The reality is that behind the scenes there are lots of costs involved in the magical display that you see during the festive period. Last year we purchased beautiful new lights and cross-overs through a three year deal with Gala Lights who erect, take down, store and maintain the lighting for us. This years commitment is £20,000, In addition to this we have our beautiful Christmas trees and we are looking at a potential sustainable new option for our Wimereux Sq location. Along with this there is the costs of contractors to install and remove the trees and there are various insurances, planning permissions and other administration costs involved.

To raise the money needed we reach out to corporate sponsors but in addition to this we need the support of Herne Bay residents and community groups to help us meet our financial commitments.

Perhaps you can offer a one off donation, or even give monthly. You might decide to donate money raised through and group or individual activity. We’ll also be running various quiz nights and other events throughout the year which we’d love to see you at!
