The Herald Garden of Remembrance Campaign

The coronavirus pandemic has taken parents, grandparents, husbands, wives and partners before their time. And for many the heartache was made all the worse for not being able to hold their hand or be at their bedsides.

Covid-19 has torn people apart and cruelly split up families. This is why The Herald has launched its Garden of Remembrance Campaign, to create a place where people can simply sit and think of their relatives.

We want to build a cairn in memory of those lost to coronavirus in Scotland, with a stone to represent every victim. And we are looking for a volunteer army to help create it.

Our aim is to create a space for friends and families to go to, whether it's to be alone with their thoughts or together as they remember loved ones.

It is Scotland's memorial and a chance to reunite people in grief.

Thanks to the generosity of Glasgow City Council, the Garden of Remembrance will be built in Pollok Park, and we hope organisations, groups and people across Scotland will donate time, effort and materials to help make it a reality.

We have launched this public fund to help ensure all costs are covered, and to give everybody in Scotland and beyond the opportunity to contribute in some way.

Please give generously, and help build a fitting and lasting memorial to those who have lost their lives in Scotland during the coronavirus pandemic.
