Henry has attended Mariners Church since 1999 and is a volunteer on the Guest Services Team, leading the Greeters for much of that time.
Henry grew up, off and on, in Costa Rica and his parents still live there. His dad is 99 years old and his mother is 81. His mom is the primary caretaker for his dad who is suffering memory decline. Henry visited them this summer and his parents’ sadness when he left was palpable. Henry decided soon after that he needs to move back to Costa Rica to give his mom relief and help care for both his mother and father.
Unfortunately, Henry has struggled to find work during Covid and has used up his savings. We, his brother and sister volunteers, want to help Henry follow his calling to care for his parents. He needs our help to cover airfare between California and Costa Rica for a couple of trips while transitioning, storage of his belongings until he can get a place to live in Costa Rica, transportation of his car, first month’s rent and security until he has found work and is getting paychecks and modest living expenses during that transition time. All together, $12,750 will provide the opportunity for Henry to focus on his parents and get himself resituated in Costa Rica. Henry's apartment lease is up in January so we hope to reach the goal before he has to renew next month.
We have become so accustomed to being greeted by Henry each weekend with a hello, a wave and/or a life saver, Henry’s departure will leave a huge gap at church; but an answer to our prayer that Henry can fulfill God’s calling to care for his elderly parents is far greater. Please join us in helping Henry.
Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them - not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be…
