Henry’s Cafe, Middleton Cheney

I am fund raising to ensure Henry’s Café in the Northamptonshire village of Middleton Cheney, survives the current energy crisis.

This vibrant, happy, busy café is the hub of the village and a lifeline to many villagers including my 91 year old father. Sarah, the owner, is a bubbly character and loved equally by all her customers and staff. The service is exceptional and Sarah and her team go the extra mile and always with a smile. (Sarah’s jokes are legendary).

Originally known as Butlers Pantry, Sarah renamed the cafe after her grandfather, Henry Arthur McGill, who was a World War Two Army veteran, and whose legacy she wants to live on through the café.

Covid was tough but Henry’s reopened successfully. However the recent cost of living crisis has hit hard and the incredibly high energy bills have resulted in the café struggling to break even, despite it being busier than ever.

This crowd funder is to help to pay the excess energy bills for the café, so that it can remain open and continue to be the hub of the village and an important social space for so many villagers. If Henry’s were to close it would be a sad day for the residents of Middleton Cheney, as well as Sarah and her family and staff, but with your help we can try to prevent that happening. I know how tough things are for everyone but every little helps.

There is a time in life when we have to stand up and say NO, we can’t let that happen and I genuinely believe that this is one of those times. Things will get better and when they do we want Henry’s Cafe to be open for coffee or lunch and that oh so important smile.
