Eagle scout, Henry Morin, lived with passion. In just 18 years, and through the influence of scouting, he became a chef, a pilot, a SCUBA diver, a motorcyclist, an entrepreneur and a lover of extreme sports.
While adventuring with friends on June 4, 2019, Henry was killed in a swimming accident. He would have graduated high school on June 15th - also his 19th birthday. His next adventure was to move to Colorado and attend the University of Colorado-Boulder and study aeronautical engineering. His life was tragically ended with so much ahead of him.
Henry lived fearlessly and embraced the curiosity and courage to seek out new experiences. He packed a lifetime of learning, excitement, and adventure into his brief 18 years.
Henry repeatedly said that two of his most transformative experiences were his trips to the Philmont Scout Ranch (in in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of New Mexico) and the Northern Tier canoe trek in Canada.
He recounted that each trip taught him tenacity, endurance, creativity, durability, teamwork, confidence, and a desire to experience the world. His parents commented on the changes they saw in him upon his return. Simply stated, those trips changed the trajectory of his short life and contributed to the man he became.
Now, Henry's family and friends are creating a legacy that will change the lives of other scouts and help them experience treks to Philmont and the Northern Tier.
This page has been set up to accept contributions in Henry's memory, to be used in support of the adventures of other young scouts who might not otherwise be able to afford such trips.
Facilitated through a qualified 501(c)(3), the funds raised will be applied to the costs of scouts that would benefit the life-altering experiences Henry had.
Each year, Henry's own scout patrol, all of whom are Eagles themselves or closing in on achieving the rank, will play a primary role in selecting those who will receive this life-changing adventure.
Please help, with whatever amount you can, and honor Henry and change a child's life. As for you? Live your life with passion and bring a little bit of Henry with you by always doing the things you fear.
