Get Henry to America after beating Leukaemia!

Let’s get Henry on that plane!!!!! Henry’s raffle is now live and there’s over 170 prizes up for grabs!! The fabulous prizes include a Haven weekend break, a time trial bike and even theatre tickets. Endless vouchers, hampers of goodies and apparel. Something for everyone! All funds will be going on giving Henry the most magical end of treatment holiday to America after 4 gruelling years of chemotherapy. It will end on 12th July at 6pm. Every single person who has donated has helped make Henry’s magical trip a reality. Your kindness will forever be in our hearts. 

While every single penny has been just as vital, I would be remiss if I didn’t extend a special thank you to those among you who have donated such large amounts. I am overcome with the kindness and generosity of strangers. I can never thank you enough, but rest assured I will never forget your names. 

Henry’s school is doing a disco with proceeds going towards the fund. We have also had some amazing high value prizes donated by local individuals and businesses. Due to the extent of this we will be holding a separate raffle on an online specialist platform to ensure it runs smoothly and fairly. We have over 130 prizes we can’t wait to share with you all! 

There has been a slight delay in the raffle going live. As some of you know Henry was rushed to hospital last week with mumps. Looking after him will always be my first priority. However he is now recovering so hoping to pick things back up this week. I would have posted a video of him thanking you all but he currently has a jaw wider than action man’s so we’ll leave that for when the swelling has gone down!  

We are now over half way towards the trip being fully funded, something I did not even consider a possibility. I had every intention of putting the majority on my credit card, he was getting on that plane even if it took me the next 10 years to pay off. 

As his full time carer on a fixed income this kindness we have been shown has allowed me to not be terrified at the cost and actually feel allowed to look forward to creating memories with him. Being stress free for those two weeks is an unfamiliar concept but something I cannot wait for. He has seen far too much trauma for his age, I am hoping this trip will give him back a little of that unreserved joy of childhood.

UPDATE 2 : I can’t believe we hit £3000 in just two days! Thank you to every single person who has helped this happen. You wonderful bunch! Every single one of you has helped get Henry on his magical adventure.

The funds so far will cover the fees to the charity at £1100, Henry’s insurance at a whopping £1200 and the portion of the cost of a hire car that will fit his wheelchair. I have now moved the total to £4000 in the hopes of moving towards the remainder of the car hire and chipping away at some of the cost of flights. 

I have now told Henry that we will be able to go, he is the most excited I have possibly ever seen him. He is obsessed with Star Wars so meeting real Stormtroopers is the big focus for him. Followed closely by the thrill of rollercoasters as nothing scares him!

The last few days have been an emotional whirlwind of positivity rather than trauma. We really do live in an amazing community, the outpouring of love is something I will never forget.

UPDATE : Thank you so much for all your generous donations!! We're over the moon to say that we have now reached our initial target of £2,000. 

We're extending the goal after your amazing generosity to £3,000; insurance for Henry alone is quoting at £1,200, so as you can imagine this is going to be an expensive trip even with the help of this amazing charity supporting us. 

 Henry continues to be a brave and amazingly happy little boy, he so deserves this magical experience. To give you more of an insight into our lives, I have had to give up my job to become Henry’s full time carer. Even after finishing his treatment, that is unlikely to change as he has been left with long standing conditions. What this means is that this trip is very likely to be a once in a lifetime experience for him!

Hi my name is Charlotte.

My son Henry is 5 and has Leukaemia. He is due to complete nearly 4 years of chemo this summer. He lived in Alder Hey for 18 months without returning home. He’s had life threatening sepsis 6 times and even had to learn to walk again, twice! He can now walk short distances but uses a wheelchair. He’s had multiple admissions of over 3 months with only a week or 2 at home in between. He has been in HDU on three different occasions. For 3 years he was fed couldn’t eat and was given TPN straight into his veins, he’s recently improved enough to have feeds through the tube to his stomach similar to baby formula.

Despite all this Henry is the bravest, happiest boy. He radiates joy and is a delight to be around and so loving, wanting to give cuddles to anyone he meets. ❤️

An amazing charity has offered him a celebration trip to Florida to mark his end of cancer treatment. He will have ongoing health issues such as mobility and gastric but the worst part of the fight will finally be over. The trip includes 2 weeks accommodation and park tickets to all the theme parks in Orlando, for a massively reduced fee of £1000. We also have to fundraise for flights, insurance, car hire ect. I know times are tough so even the smallest donation would be greatly appreciated. ❤️
