Henry Geistlinger's Eagle Project
Donation protected
Hello, For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Henry Geistlinger, and I am raising money for my Eagle Scout Service Project for Oakland Scout Troop 202. The project will benefit the Pacific Boychoir Academy, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering boys to develop their musical talent, build their ability to communicate and collaborate with confidence and encourage them to become future leaders in their communities. I sang and toured with the Pacific Boychoir for five years and it had a huge impact on my life.

The Covid-19 pandemic caused a huge reduction in their enrollment as they lost the ability to perform both in public and to go on tour. I hope my project will help support their efforts to rebuild their enrollment so they can continue to offer their program to other youth.

For my project, a group of 20+ scouts will work together to refurbish the sports equipment shed and install 3 telescoping flagpoles along the front fenceline. The flagpoles will enable them to hang banners that will give more visibility to drivers and passersby. They are located in a residential area near the popular Piedmont Ave commercial district, and while they get a lot of traffic, they look like just another house, rather than a business. These banners will make Pacific Boychoir more visible to people, supporting their enrollment-building efforts.

The flagpoles are made of anodized aluminum and are built to withstand severe weather conditions, so they will be a lasting contribution. The hard work of digging and creating the foundation for the poles will be performed by high school-aged scouts. Younger scouts will clean out a storage shed and reorganize the existing sports equipment. We will also install a hanging system where they can store the gear in mesh bags, as well as in donated barrels and bins.
Your donations will go toward purchasing the flagpoles, concrete, gravel and other building materials, as well as hooks, mesh bags and food for hungry scouts. Any donations raised over our actual costs will go directly to the Pacific Boychoir Academy to support their program.
It would mean so much to me, to be able to give back to the community that gave me so much while I was growing up, and to be able to give other kids the opportunity to experience it for themselves. Thank you for your consideration.
Please note that donations to this GoFundMe are not tax deductible because I am not a registered nonprofit.
