Henesy Terrace is a 13-unit housing complex in Kenora that is wheelchair accessible and provides 24-hour support services to tenants to enable them to remain in their own home and to stay as active in their community as possible. There are currently 14 tenants living in the building. Most tenants are on ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program) which puts their income well below the poverty level. Physical issues and illnesses of tenants varies, all are dependent on mobility aids, from canes to wheelchairs and everything in between.
The building is owned/maintained by the Kenora District services Board (KDSB) and is staffed by Community Services for Independence Northwest (CSI-NW).
Neither KDSB nor the CSI program has the budget for outfitting/furnishing the indoor and outdoor common living spaces.
We would like to raise funds for a dishwasher and furnishings for the common room, as well as a canopy and raised garden planters for the patio.
