Siddhartha Lower Secondary School is located in Arghakachi, Nepal. Arghakachi was highly affected by the earthquake that occured in 2015. Since then, this district has been attempting to rebuild. Currently, this school lacks a library for their students and we are rasing money in hopes to create a libray for these children. Currently, there is a student population of 200 consisting of 55% male and 45% female. Nepal has a literacy rate of 76.4% for males and 53.1% for females
and developing a library for these children would be just a small contribution to helping make a difference.
Along with building a library, we will be educating young girls about women health/hygiene. In some villages of Nepal chhaupadi is still practiced. Chhaupadi is a social tradition practiced for women during their menstrual cycle. Women are placed in confinment restricting them from continuing their daily lives such as attending school. While they are confined, they find themselves in a poor hygiene enviroment along with being limited to eating dry foods and rice. Another goal of ours is to spread the understanding of menstruation being normal and a healthy part of womanhood.
