Stand With Venice

Imagine for a moment that a trendy restaurant opened next door to your home: delivery trucks wake your family before the break of dawn, the smell of cooking food permeates your home at all hours of the day, customers coming and going or dining outside until midnight every night of the week keep your children awake. No doubt you would do everything in your power to stop this from happening.
This is exactly the scenario that residents of Venice are facing as restaurants and bars pop up next door to our homes against our wishes. Incredibly, many of these businesses operate without proper permits...and get away with it! We must take a stand against this proliferation of businesses that flaunt the law and ignore the community. We are fighting against the deep pockets of restaurateurs and developers who are used to getting their way.
We need your help to protect our community. Ground Zero of this fight is with Gjusta, located at 320 Sunset Ave in Venice. Gjusta has been lauded by foodie blogs and magazines around the country. What these publications don't tell you about is the dozens of violations Gjusta has wracked up since opening. In fact, the violations are so rampant that the City of Los Angeles has two lawsuits pending against Gjusta. But due to the byzantine bureaucracy of Los Angeles, these lawsuits may not be able to help us. To add insult to injury, Gjusta is now asking the City to reward its illegal behavior by approving a full alcohol license and permitting them to "officially" operate a bar and restaurant just 13 feet from families' homes. Gjusta's owner thinks he can do whatever he wants with zero consequences. So far, he's been right.
The time is now to stand together to stop businesses in Venice from ignoring the law and operating illegally. We believe that peaceful neighborhoods, respectful business operators, and rule of law should come before profits. Your donation will allow us to support our community volunteers with experienced support staff and the best legal representation.
Please, stand with Venice! We thank you for your support!
