Hi everyone,
I am known as Karen Brown Aka Auntie Karen, Aka Miss Brown. HYACIENT is my birth name. I was born in 9 miles St. Ann Jamaica and have a family house and small business in the community.
My relationship to this community is that it is my home away from home in the united states.
I am asking for help, because HURRICANE MELISSA came through with a rage of 185 miles per hr winds as a category 5 hurricane and ravaged our little island of Jamaica.
She turned the community that I was born in and have my home in upside down.
NINE MILES St. Ann Community of Rhoden Hall is also known as REGGAELAND . It is a community of farmers , shop keepers and villagers full of unity and love. Right now The community is full of emotional turmoil and anxiety for our future.
Through the grace of God, no lives were lost but, the impact of the storm destroyed almost every farm flattened to the ground. Not to mention the loss of homes. Entire homes were smashed or blown away with everything Inside. Other homes, roofs were blown off with everything inside storm soaked.
The damage for some people is far more than anything we could have prepared for.
We're located in the mountains in the inner island and seems to be off the radar.Because there are other parts of the country that have been totally destroyed that is visible.
We know the entire country's struggling at this time, but nine miles and the surrounding areas NEEDSHELP. Our residents are starting to worry about food Getting low, they do not have farms anymore to go get a banana. The stores cannot be restocked because most of them are no longer existing and most people have no way of restocking with almost the entire country in despair.
If you can help, no matter how small it will make a difference with putting a roof over someone's head, clothes on their back, food on their table, some sort of electricity using
Battery packs, solar Lights, tarpaulin, food etc. Basically anything that you can imagine you would need if your house was completely blown away.
If you cannot donate, please share this, that would be a great donation.
As I hear and watch the trauma on the faces of my friends and families and a community that I have been in my entire life the emotional toll has been undescribable I can't imagine those who actually lived through it feel with Their daily trauma.
Thank you in advance from the Rhoden Hall community, 9 miles a k.A reggae land for taking the time to read this And for any support, you can offer.
We promise to keep this page updated with our progress.
Hyacient Brown
