Help me teach English in Croatia
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
This summer I will be volunteering with Learning Enterprises, a student-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, to teach English to children of ages 4-16 in Croatia at the Sunny Village Camp in Jagnjedovec and the Koprivnica Youth Center. I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to help underserved children learn English, a skill that could change their futures, and to learn myself in a new culture.
To turn this possibility into a reality, I am asking for the help of Friends and Family to make a small donation before I am scheduled to leave in June!
$200 of this money raised will go straight to Learning Enterprises so that they can continue to send volunteers abroad to help foster teaching English in disadvantaged countries working towards English development. The other portion is to help me afford my airfare and accommodations during the orientation, midpoint and closing sessions of the program, the only times during the program in which we do not have accommodations provided by Learning Enterprises. I will also use the money to buy teaching aids for my lesson plans, one of the many things a non-profit cannot afford to provide their teachers. I am contributing my own funds from my two part-time jobs as Cal Poly Kennedy Library Photographer and Photo Studio Technician. I am just completing my junior year as a full-time photo and video major at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Any funds I don't need for my travel and work will be donated back to Learning Enterprises.
I feel so lucky to be accepted into this remarkable group of students who are taking it into their own hands to connect people around the world in a mutually beneficial exchange. I am confident I will be able to help children increase their life opportunities by expanding their language skills, but I know they will teach me so much more. I look forward to taking on the challenges of living in a new culture, speaking a new language, and embracing the new role of teaching children. After this summer, I expect to see the world through a new, expanded, more balanced, more compassionate lens.
I cannot wait to expand my horizons in Croatia. I plan to create a photographic series of the people I connect with and places I live; I will be sure to share with you all! If you'd like to learn more about Learning Enterprises, I have attached the link or reach out to me if you have any questions.

Thank you!
