Help Huntington Station Kids Read

Hello, my name is Tom Arana-Wolfe and I am a police officer in Huntington, New York. Back in Fall 2013, I worked with the Family Service League (FSL) in Huntington Station and created a Fall reading contest for children from low-income families. Participants read several age-appropriate books and wrote a brief essay on each one.

In December 2013, we had an awards pizza party for all participants and out of my own pocket I gave away two Amazon Kindle White Paper tablets and a Sony Playstation 4 game system to the winners. Recent updates I received from FSL inform me that the winners continue to be some of their best youth program members.

I am looking to expand my initial work and hand out to twenty children an Amazon Kindle Fire Kids tablet with a kid-proof protective case and one year Kindle Unlimited subscription. I will be asking them in return to read a book a month that is picked out by a FSL staffer and briefly summarize it.

If I am lucky enough to surpass my goal, I will use the extra money to not only expand the amount of children we help but to extend the Kindle Unlimited subscriptions ($9.99 a month/ $119 a year).

Please help me reach out and help the community I serve.
