Hello everyone. My name is Bob and I am a single parent to two wonderful children, Carina and Reese. Recently, we found out that Carina has epilepsy and a mass in her brain. Through time and MANY doctor's appointments, we found that Carina has a mass in the center of her brain near the Basal Ganglia that is advancing but not yet fully understood. We are getting her set up to have a biopsy in late January to fully figure out what we are dealing with. According to her neurosurgeon, if it is immediately identifiable as a tumor, they will do an ablation to, basically, cook it from the inside with a laser, which, considering where it is located may require months of physical therapy to account for weakness in her left side from damage caused. Aside from being a tumor, the mass could be a type of autoimmune disorder, but the doctors have said this is less likely given that there is only one mass in one place in her brain. After the biopsy is done, regardless of what the outcome is, further testing will need to be done to make sure the mass is not cancerous or another issue. Everything is still up in the air. Any money raised will be put towards bills accrued while we are taking time off for therapy and to pay any unforeseen medical expenses. I thank each and every one of you who have read this, and if you help out in this difficult time.
