Helping Walter

Donation protected
Helping Walter get a good nights rest, a bed to sleep in and a place to feel safe with his most trusted and adored pets. Walter is the kindest most gentle man who has never asked me for help, but really could use it. The day I opened my dog daycare for the first day he came in and asked if I could care for his dogs while he was at work since it was too hot to leave them in the car. When I looked at his dogs I knew there was more going on here then he first mentioned. When I asked if his incredibly matted and dirty pups were vaccinated he provided me with every vaccination document needed and explained to me that he is currently homeless but works full time and would like to keep the dogs here so they won't be taken from him. He's been threatened by Animal control they would be taken and he couldn't risk losing his babies. Sophie and Andy are the sweetest most mild mannered dogs and are so incledibly bonded to their daddy I could never imagine what they would go through if they were taken away from him. He's asked local dog businesses for help in the past but has been consistently disrespected and threatened to have the dogs taken. Working in dog boarding I know that separation from an owner can be as traumatic as physical abuse for sensitive dogs like Sophie and Andy. While he works every day, he feeds them before himself and makes sure to get them any care he can offer. Up until this point no shelters would allow him to stay with his dogs, so he's braved multiple cold winters in his 2 seated truck in order to stay with his dogs and keep them safe. Say what you want about his situation and choices, but when you meet him you will see a truly loving and gentle man who wants nothing but to keep his two best friends near him in the best way possible. So I've been caring for them all week while he goes to work so he doesn't have to worry about them being taken. The amazing women at Bath Brush and Beyond Grooming (next door) have been working with me to help not only Sophie and Andy get cleaned up, but to also help Walter get back on his feet too. For every time you drive by a "beggar" on the corner and say "why don't they just get a job?" Well, Walter did. He's not on any drugs, never been an alcoholic, doesn't seem to be at all mentally unstable but is simply in a bad place and could really use the help right now. He's currently facing losing his storage room because he is behind on his payment and sleeps every night in his 2 seater pickup with his beloved best friends. Doing everything he can to keep going. While Helena, the owner of Bath Brush and Beyond Grooming has offered a night stay in a hotel, Dawn (groomer) cleaned them up so nicely and even went out to buy them healthy food, toys and treats to help put some weight back on them. I've reduced his daycare costs in half to make the burden lighter and paid for their grooming, but I wanted to reach out to my fellow compassionate loving friends, neighbors and fellow pet lovers and see if there is anything else we can do to help this kind man. Even if it's $5, it will help. This will be worth it, I will make sure every penny goes directly to him. Thank you for your support and for sharing this with your community as well.
Sincerely,
