I met Wafa during my trip to the Kawah Ijen volcano in Indonesia. Beyond being a guide, he also works inside the crater — one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, exposed daily to toxic fumes for very little pay.

Wafa had to quit school at 17 to work in the mine. Today, at 31, he is married, a father of two, and still risking his life every day. His dream is simple: to live from tourism, guiding travelers safely across Indonesia’s mountains and volcanoes (Ijen, Bromo, Batur), and to offer his children a better future.

This fundraiser is here to give him that chance. Every donation, big or small, will help Wafa build a safer life for his family and finally step away from the dangers of the mine.
