Helping "Trigger"- Steve Goetzinger

Many of you may already know that in March 2020, my brother Steve was hospitalized for Covid. He had “gunk” in both lungs, and his hospital plan was IV medications, monitoring his lung function and x-rays to see if the gunk would resolve. He required supplemental oxygen in order for him to be discharged. To this day, Steve has had some improvements, however, overall, he lost 40% of his total lung capacity to Covid. His lungs are scarred and will never improve. He’s been fighting with his union and our wonderful government to get his disability benefits. He’s been jumping through the hoops for more than 15 months now. He has gone through his entire savings (which was considerable), paying his mortgage, truck payment, insurance, utilities, medical bills, etc.

Our families helped out financially as much as we could these last two years. His girlfriend, Teresa, has been fantastic and supporting him as best she can. Steve is a very proud man. He’s my big brother, my hero. I know he’ll be very upset with me for posting this, but I truly don’t know what else to do. He was just told for the third or fourth time that his SSI case is being given to another caseworker and that they won’t even look at his case for at least another two months. So now I’m asking our family and friends…. Please help….

My brother has the kindest heart and would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. Now he’s the one who’s in need. He needs help to pay his medical costs and keep a roof over his head. So…. I am setting up a go fund me account for him. We have an amazing, kind-hearted community and group of family and friends. Thank you, and God bless all of you for helping.
