Supporting The Loved Ones Left Behind
Donation protected
Our Aim:
- Raise money to support the households that lost their sole breadwinner in this protest
- Help pay for education, clothes and food for the families of those left behind
- Arrange a free of charge medical clinic for the kisaan and their families needing assistance as a result of this protest (more details to be provided by Kiran Thandi)
During the Covid-19 global pandemic, three farmers laws were passed by the Indian government that threatened the livelihood of millions of farmers. In a country where much of the nation is in agriculture, this takes away everything from these farmers. And so began the protest...
Thousands of families waved goodbye to their husband, son, father or brother as they set off to Delhi. The hope was that the solidarity displayed amongst farmers would result in the new laws being scrapped. Instead, they woke up one day to news that their peaceful protestor was no more.
Money will not bring back their loved one, but it will help ease a little pressure while they find a way to carry on without them - every penny will help.
We are working to raise money so that we can offer support to those families that have lost their sole breadwinner as a result of this protest. With heavy hearts we recognise we may not be able to help every family, but we will try to reach as many as we can.
We may be able to reach some of those families very quickly from here. For those we can't we will make our way to India, along with some incredibly special charities, and distribute the money amongst these families once Covid-19 regulations allow us to travel. Your donation will help buy clothes, food, education and healthcare for families who have no way of funding these things.
In just one sleep, their whole world changed. We would like to change it again. This time for the better. You will be kept up to date with every penny distributed and how your donations provided relief to families of the farmers who are no longer with us.
Our Message To Our Farmers:
We may be separated by oceans, but your win is our win, your struggle is our struggle, and your pain is our pain. You are not alone. You will never be alone. We stand with you during your time of need and will stand with you long after. We thank you for all you have done, are doing and will do. You rose above the divide of religion, displayed solidarity and taught the world about the true meaning of humanity in the face of oppression. We are proud to be Indians. We are proud to be Sikhs.
