Helping to Feed Folks in Need
Donation protected
Hi my name is Zack Beckett and I am performing a 9th grade service project for Southern High School.
My project is entitled, "Helping to Feed Folks in Need" via the South County Assistance Network (S.C.A.N.) for the Food Pantry at St. James Parish in Lothian, MD.
My goal is to raise money to purchase OR obtain donations of non-perishable foods to assist local families who are in need due of COVID-19.
Common Items the food pantry gives to families on a monthly basis include:
Included in every bag:
Canned meats (includes chicken, tuna, chili, Dinty Moore beef stew, etc.)
Canned fruits Shelf-stable milk
Canned vegetables
Canned or dried beans Pork and beans
Soup Spaghetti sauce, diced tomatoes or canned tomatoes
Peanut butter and jelly
Cereal (kid-friendly) and oatmeal
Pancake mix and syrup
Macaroni and cheese mixes Dry pasta (spaghetti, macaroni, or noodles)
Extra items: (when available):
Juice – bottles or boxes Coffee, tea, or other drinks
Dry soup or ramen noodles
Rice, stuffing, packaged mashed potatoes, etc.
Broth or gravy
Snacks (cookies, cakes, brownies, crackers, chips, granola bars, potato chips, etc.)
Spaghettios, canned ravioli, other single serve meals
Taco mix, taco shells, sauce, etc.
Nuts/trail mix/small packages of dried fruit, etc.
Condiments (ketchup, mustard, vegetable oil, salad dressings, pickles, mayonnaise, etc.)
To kickoff my project, my family and I have ordered enough food to feed eight families and my goal is to feed at least 25 families.
Supporting my service project will help provide much needed assistance to the food pantry, which is struggling to keep enough stock on their shelves because of the increased demand by families.
My service project will run from November 24, 2020 through January 5, 2021.
Non-perishable donation pick up will be limited to the following areas:
Deale, Churchton, West River, Shady Side, and Lothian
To arrange for a donation pickup, please email [email redacted]
Please support my project and YOUR community to make sure families continue to not go hungry.
ANY AND ALL DONATIONS OF FOOD OR MONEY REGARDLESS OF THE AMOUNT WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED
