My name is Carlos Torres, and I am reaching out to you on behalf of my coworker and friend, Carlos Bautista, who is facing an incredibly heartbreaking situation.

On November 3rd, 2025 his wife Andri Narayan Herrera Perez and mother of his 5 month old daughter was informed of the devastating news that her refugee status, after living in Canada for 3 years, was declined and needs to return to her home town in Mexico by January 17th 2026.

This news is especially painful because the family originally migrated to Canada to escape the unsafe living conditions in their home city. Now, they are being forced back into the very environment they fled.

After consulting with an immigration lawyer, the family had to make an impossible choice. To ensure their 5-month-old daughter is cared for, Andri and the baby will return to Mexico. Carlos must stay here in Canada alone to work and provide the financial lifeline they need to survive.

My heart breaks seeing a father separated from his newborn daughter and wife. This decision was not made lightly, and my hope is to ease the financial weight of this transition so Carlos can focus on supporting his family’s safety from afar.

"Hello, my name is Andri. Three years ago, I came to Canada in search of better opportunities, seeking to live in a place that would provide me with safety, as my home country is very dangerous and I could not live in peace. I began my refugee process, but sadly, I was not permitted to stay. Because of this, I am now facing a removal order which means I will have to return to my country and face the same situation I was fleeing once again. Despite being established here in Canada and having a five-month-old baby, I will have to leave everything behind and return, which puts me in a very difficult and vulnerable position.

​The most painful aspect of this situation is the possible separation from my partner and the direct impact this would have on my daughter, who would be deprived of her father's presence and support for an indefinite period of time. My partner and I have worked together to build a family and to achieve the dream of living a stable and peaceful life, providing our daughter with a safe, loving environment free from violence."
