Hi, I'm Emmanuel and I'm hosting this fundraiser in collaboration with friends to help support a local family we've worked with.
The head of the family was a pilot who worked with U.S. Air Force command in his country. The family had to flee for their lives quite suddenly. Their nephew- a young boy – escaped with them after his family's home was bombed and the boy seriously injured.
We have helped the family and their nephew here in the U.S. Our goal now is to bring the nephew's family here. With tireless perseverance, his uncle has over the last two years, laboriously submitted all the official paperwork to sponsor his family's legal arrival. One last document is needed for each family member and the cost has been inflated due to conditions in their country.
As much as we’d like to, we cannot for safety reasons, share names and photos and family details. Instead, we include here portions of the child's letter to the U.S. State Department. -
“I have many experiences that I would not have had the opportunity to experience if I had not escaped with my uncle and his family. I appreciate the opportunity that being in America gives me. I am becoming more fluent in English, both in speaking and reading and writing. I have better educational opportunities here, and plan to go to college. I would like to become a doctor and help others like me when I was wounded.
I am old enough now to know that my life would be in danger if I went back.... My family there is still in danger, and I constantly worry about their safety. I would like for the rest of my family to come to the United States.”
This smart, hard-working boy does very well in his new school here, and with your support, his sisters will be able to go to school too, which they are banned from in their home country.
Any amount you can contribute will help remove a family from a dangerous situation and reunite loved ones.
If you have any questions before or after you donate, please feel free to contact me with the contact button at the bottom of this fundraiser.
Thank you for your support!
