Hi,im Chanaka Nissanka, currently living in Saarbrücken.member of Non profitabel Organisation of Sri Lanka.
my hometown is veyangoda lacated in Gampaha District.but our target is helping all Srilankans as soon as possible.
The disaster stems from Cyclone Ditwah, which hit Sri Lanka at the end of November 2025. It brought extremely heavy rainfall, triggering widespread flooding and deadly landslides across large parts of the island.
• In mountainous, tea-growing central regions (notably around districts like Badulla and Nuwara Eliya), landslides destroyed homes.
• Lowland and coastal zones including the area around the capital Colombo saw rivers overflowing (e.g. the Kelani River), submerging entire neighborhoods.
As of December 1, reports cite up to 334 confirmed deaths — making it one of the deadliest natural disasters in Sri Lanka in decades.
• Several hundred people remain missing, and many more were displaced: more than 1.1 million people from over 300,000 families were reported as “affected”.
• Tens of thousands are living in temporary shelters after losing homes; over 20,000–25,000 homes were fully or partly destroyed across the country.
• Infrastructure damage is severe: roads, bridges, power lines, rail tracks and key supply routes have been destroyed or blocked. Electricity outages and water/telecom supply disruptions are widespread.
• Agricultural losses: Floodwaters have submerged farmland (including tea estates), destroying crops and disrupting food supplies.
