Helping Shakara and Her Boys Find Stability and a New Home

My name is Tina Wright a proud Gunditjmara Woman, and I am Shakara’s mother.

I come to you today with a heartfelt request for help, as my daughter and her boys are currently facing homelessness. She is a single mother, and they are currently in crisis accommodation and urgently need support.

Shakara has endured significant trauma due to family violence. Shakara has had to move four times to ensure the safety of her family. Now, as she faces a future surgery due to an injury sustained in the course of this violence, Shakara will need time off work to recover.

Yet, through all of this hardship, she has remained resilient, continuing her tireless work for the Aboriginal community in Naarm for the past 17 years. She has always given back and instilled these values in her children, teaching them the importance of supporting others.

Shakara and her boys deserve the opportunity to heal and thrive in a safe and stable environment. This fundraiser is dedicated to covering the costs of one month’s bond and her first month's rent to secure a home for them—a place where they can begin to rebuild and continue their journey together as a family.
