Hello,

My name is Katy. Many of you know my brother Rory and his wife Jaime. We are starting this Gofundme after the fire that devastated their apartment building leaving them and their animals homeless.

On January 1st, just after midnight, they were woken up by someone honking their horn, trying to alert the inhabitants of the building that it was on fire. Acting as fast as they could, Rory and Jaime grabbed what they could and their animals then attempted to leave. Jaime was met at the front door by a firefighter, who then carried Jaime down 3 flights of stairs to safety. Jaime is currently recovering from an emergency appendectomy a few weeks before the fire. Rory was then disoriented and couldn’t find Jaime, unaware that she was just rescued. Just when he thought it was the end for he and his puppy Charlie, the firemen came back and helped navigate him to safety. Their apartment is a virtual loss. Everything is covered with smoke, fire or water damage. With these funds we hope to keep them afloat until they find a new, pet friendly apartment and a leg up while they start over from scratch. Rory has been present in every major event in my life, always willing to lend support. Be it physical, emotional, and at times financial.
