As many of you know, our grandson, Sutton, was born on September 5, 2025, and is the son of Kaygen and Tyler Alt. Sutton has been bravely fighting in the NICU at UVA since birth. He was diagnosed with Trisomy 18, also known as Edwards syndrome, which is a genetic disorder caused by an extra copy of chromosome 18. This has been one of the hardest journeys for our family, especially for Kaygen and Tyler, but we are so proud of the strength and fight Sutton has shown us.

At this point, his medical team is unsure of his treatments and unfortunately how long he will be in the NICU. Kaygen and Tyler are traveling back and forth daily to UVA to be with Sutton, but then also be at home with their daughter, Hazel, in the evenings. The Ronald McDonald House unfortunately is not an option for them because even though we live a little over an hour away, you must live more than 60 miles away. Kaygen is unable to go back to work as she is still recovering from the C-section. Tyler is on FMLA, but as you know, you do not get paid on FMLA.

Between travel costs, gas, and meals, the financial burden on them is overwhelming. We want nothing more than to be there for our daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, but we cannot do it alone.

We are humbly asking for help. Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward travel, gas, and to help with any bills during this time.

Your prayers, support, and generosity mean the world to us. Thank you for standing with our family during this difficult time and helping Kaygen, Tyler, Hazel, and Sutton.
