Hi, my name is Nora. I'm a community organizer from Nelson County. My friend Clio and I are raising funds for our friend Mitxh. He's a loving father and local activist who has dedicated his life to mentoring youth to create real opportunities for our young people in spite of the systemic barriers they face. Here's his story ---

"This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to say out loud.

In June, my life was abruptly put on pause when I was incarcerated. While I was away, something devastating happened—people I believed were my friends took advantage of my absence. They gained access to my home, promised to take care of things, and instead chose to occupy my house as squatters.

I wasn’t behind on my responsibilities because I didn’t care. I wasn’t absent because I walked away. I was physically unable to protect my home or handle my finances during that time. The people living there knew the mortgage and bills weren’t in their names, and despite promising to help, they let everything fall apart because there were no consequences for them—only for me.

When I came home, I didn’t come home to my house.
I came home to locked doors, mounting bills in my name, and the real fear of foreclosure hanging over my head.

Since then, I’ve been living in a hotel—not because it’s easy or comfortable, but because it’s the only safe place I can be while I fight through the legal process to evict the squatters and reclaim what is mine. The system is slow, and every extra day puts me at greater risk of losing everything I worked for.

To make matters worse, during this crisis I trusted a caseworker to hold over $5,000 for me so I could stabilize after my release. That money—my safety net—was spent without my consent. It disappeared at the moment I needed it most.

I am exhausted—but I am not giving up.

What I want is simple and human: stability. I want my home back. I want to stop living out of bags. I want to rebuild a life where I can consistently show up for my children, spend real time with them, and give them the security they deserve. I want to move forward instead of being trapped in survival mode.

Right now, I’m asking for help to cover at least one more month of hotel stay so I can remain safe while the eviction process continues. This support isn’t about comfort—it’s about holding the line long enough to get my footing back.

If you can donate, please know you are helping someone who is actively fighting to reclaim their life after being taken advantage of at their most vulnerable moment. If you can’t donate, sharing this story matters more than you might realize.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for believing me. And thank you for helping me hold onto the possibility that this chapter does not define the rest of my life. "

Thank you again,
Mitxh
