Hi My Name is Wayne one of many grandsons to my beautiful Nan
Last Friday night, her world was turned upside down. She has always put other first and it’s time for the her be paid back.
At just 26, she was widowed when my Pop a fireman passed away. Left to raise 3 kids on her own in the 70's, she worked as a nurse, helping bring thousands of babies into the world, before giving it up to keep her family afloat. For the last 35+years, Nan's government home wasn't the greatest but has been the hub for a lot of the family throughout the years. It's where 15 grandchildren and over 20 great-grandchildren have grown up. Her door was always open, and always with a smile.
On Friday, a fire started from a an electrical source. It spread through the ceiling, destroyed half the house, and left the rest unsafe with asbestos. In her 80’s
, Nan walked over the burning verandah to safety before the fire brigade arrived. She left with only the clothes on her back. Since then, the house has been boarded up to keep unwanted guests out. Until a final decision is made, we can only imagine it will be demolished.
Right now, our family is helping
with food, clothes and a place to stay. But she'll need help starting again once Housing relocates her. With no insurance and only her pension, that's a big mountain to climb . Furniture and items will be hard to store and keep until she is in need, so I have created this to help when the time comes to help her with more than essentials.
It will help a sweet lady find her smile again.
appreciate it
