Helping Mid-County Senior Center (MCSC) Survive

The Center was closed by Santa Cruz County, March 16 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Hopefully, there will be enough money to pay bills until the center can re-open. We simply don't know when that will be possible.
However, THERE IS NO MONEY TO RUN the Center when we re-open. It takes about $15,000 per month to run it and fiscal prudence dictates that we should have at least 3 months of expense money in the bank for a total of $45,000. So we need to raise $45,000 (gasp!) before we could consider opening the Center again. That would give us 3 months to get on our feet and build up our attendance. It is the Board’s opinion that we cannot open until we reach this goal.
The community holds many functions at the Center, so hopefully they will be able to and willing to help us out. We are trying this GoFundMe project hoping to reach, besides the membership, all users of this valuable community resource.
These are very challenging times. But we have faith that with the support of everyone, the Mid-County Senior Center will survive!
