Helping Locate International
Introduction by Linzi Seivwright
Losing those dearest to us is always painful. For some however, the pain of not being able to lay a loved one to rest is unimaginable and heartbreaking.
Louise’s personal journey with loss has led her on a path to help others faced with unanswered questions.
Through charity Locate International, a team of dedicated volunteers try to find the missing pieces to reunite missing souls with their loved ones or re-attach an identity for those unidentified in their death.
In my words, by Louise
I've been volunteering for Locate International for about 6 months now. I was originally contacted by the CEO of the charity through my work in visual media. I instantly connected with the team of volunteers and their work, I then shared my own story.
Christmas 2016 my mother went missing and was presumed dead whilst aboard the Queen Mary II. She was never found and my experience of life going forward with such an unexplained loss has at times been a struggle. Locate International aims to solve such cases and I am now committed to helping them as a volunteer. We have weekly meetings where we seek to solve cases, analyse data, investigate cold cases and raise awareness through media campaigns
To raise funds for Locate International I'm travelling to Bhutan in the Himalayas to compete in a high-altitude 200km multi-day ultramarathon at the end of May '23. Some of you will know I have completed races such as this before, but this will be the toughest in terms of distance and at my stage of life! Ahem...
I've not fundraised before through events I've competed in but this time I've found a cause that has such a deep meaning for me. Locate International is an amazing charity and I am super proud to support them. We hugely appreciate any support that you can offer and genuinely every and any amount can help us to solve cases of missing and unidentified people.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
Louise
