My name is Debra Saxton, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my dear colleague and friend Lindsay and her family — Melissia, Marriella, and Joe. They lost almost everything to a devastating mold contamination and have to start over.

When Lindsay said to me, “Today was rough… my whole life just left in a dumpster,” my heart broke for her and her family. They couldn’t even keep their photo albums. I can’t imagine watching years of memories — everything from furniture to family keepsakes — become unsafe to touch, let alone take with you.

I’m starting this GoFundMe to help them rebuild their lives after this unimaginable loss. This family has always given so much to others — through kindness, hard work, and generosity — and now I’m hoping we can turn things around for them when they need it most. With your help, we can lift them up and help them regain stability, comfort, and hope.

Their Story

For six years, this loving family of four — mom, dad, and two daughters (one in college and one in high school) — built their life in a home they cherished. It was where birthdays were celebrated, homework was done at the kitchen table, and countless memories were made.

But now, they’ve lost nearly everything due to a severe black mold contamination that overtook their home — and their health.

Despite repeatedly notifying their landlord about the issue, proper remediation was never done. The mold continued to spread, silently invading walls, furniture, clothing, and even the air they breathed. Over time, it began to affect their respiratory health, immune systems, and overall well-being.

They’ve had to leave their home and toss most of their belongings — furniture, bedding, clothing, and even sentimental keepsakes all contaminated and unsafe to bring into a new space.

Now, they are starting over — working to reclaim their home and health in a safe environment where healing can begin.
