Helping Kids Cope, One Kit at a Time
Hi, my name is Charlie Goss, and I’m 12 years old.
Over the past few years, I’ve noticed that a lot of kids my age—including friends, classmates, and even younger students—are really struggling with anxiety, panic, stress, and depression. School can feel overwhelming, and sometimes it seems like there aren’t many ways to cope during the day when things get hard.
That’s why I’m raising money to create and donate Break Boxes and Sensory Kits to school counseling offices in my community.
These boxes are filled with small, helpful tools that can make a big difference when someone feels anxious or just needs a moment to calm down.
What’s in a Break Box?
Each box will include things like:
• Fidget toys and sensory items
• Calming games or puzzles
• Journals with writing prompts
• Positive quotes and affirmation cards
• Mental health tips written for kids and teens
• Tools to help with grounding and emotional regulation
These are all things that can help students feel more in control and supported, especially during difficult moments.
Why This Is Important
More kids are dealing with mental health challenges than ever before.
• About 1 in 7 kids worldwide has a diagnosed mental health condition
• Anxiety and depression are the most common
• Many students struggle silently without asking for help
After everything kids have been through lately—like COVID, social pressures, academic stress, current politics—it’s no surprise that many are feeling anxious, sad, or overwhelmed. But I believe that even small tools can make a huge difference.
A Break Box says:
“You’re not alone. You’re allowed to take a moment. You matter.”
How You Can Help
I’m hoping to raise $5000 to build and distribute these boxes to school counseling suites. Every donation goes directly to supplies and materials.
• $5 helps add fidgets or affirmation cards
• $20 builds one complete Break Box
• $500 supports a full set for one school
Even a small donation helps support mental wellness for students in a real, hands-on way.
Thanks for reading and for helping make schools a little more caring and calm for kids who really need it, one kit at a time.
With appreciation,
Charlie Goss
