Helping Josh Asbury and family

I’m Victoria trying to fundraise for my beautiful Nephew and family at a truly awful time.

With his journey of Covid and the diagnosis of Cancer in only 3 short months.

Josh tested positive for COVID on 26th September 2021 , isolated for 10 days Although he suffered  many symptoms he was ready to return to normal life.  However never did he get back to his normal self, not eating and drinking as normal and struggling with fatigue his parents took him back to the doctors who explained it was just the after effects of covid.  Fast forward 5 weeks, Josh started complaining of back ache, just under his left shoulder blade, asking us to massage it convinced it was just a sports injury. On Sunday 8th November 2021, Josh visited the GP who could hear air pockets on his left lung, at this point the doctor linked the back pain to this and referred Josh for a chest x ray for the following week. On Wednesday 10th November 2021, his breathing rapidly went down hill and he was suffering with cold sweats. Josh's parents called 111 and they sent an ambulance, the paramedics (who were brilliant) listened to his chest and couldn't hear anything on the left side and his oxygen had dropped to 84%. Josh was taken to Worcester Royal Hospital where they did a chest x ray and  discovered that in fact he had a collapsed lung and needed surgery. Josh was transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital via ambulance. Josh went on to have surgery and his lung drained on Sunday 14th November 2021 and was fitted with a chest drain for the next 8 days. During the surgery the surgeon found something on his lung, that he was 'Not expecting'. Following various investigations including biopsy's, fluid samples, CT scans, x-rays, blood tests, ultra sounds  Andy and Heather (Josh's parents) met with the  respiratory doctor, haematology doctor, registrar and 3 nurses, who explained Josh has a mass growth on his chest and the suspicion is that Josh had a type of Leukemia/Lymphoma. This of course is the  news all parents DO NOT want to hear. Together they decided not to tell Josh until there was formal diagnosis. After a couple of days they received Josh's diagnosis of T-lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma, they had discovered masses in his neck, arm pit, chest, lung and stomach. The doctor joined Andy and Heather and explained the terrible news to Josh. Josh listened to this, and understandably got upset and scared but made the decision to be brave and face it with positivity and win the fight!  Josh was moved to the Children's Cancer Ward in Waterfall house and started chemotherapy on the 20th November 2021. His parents have supported him endlessly. Heather stayed in the hospital by his side day in, day out from the 10th November. Andy visited Josh and Heather every day and looked after their other son jack, whilst trying to keep life as normal as possible for him.

Nobody deserves to go through this let alone a boy as kind hearted as Josh.

This is why we’d love for him to have a trip of a life time and for money to not be a problem for our beautiful family 'The Asbury's'.
We want this opportunity to be waiting for him
when his treatment is over and he’s back to his normal, sporty, energetic, and all round amazing self.

Please help us raise as much as we can, anything will help! Thank you x
