Some of you might know him as Gianni, but most of us know him as Johnny Santoro, one of my close friends who had his entire life change in a single afternoon.

While he was at work, his home caught fire and was completely destroyed. The hardest part of all is that his pitbull, Estia, was inside and didn’t make it out. She wasn’t just a pet- she was his best friend for 12 years, always by his side through everything. I’m sure many of you have seen him walking her or playing with her at the Elks Club field.

Johnny bought this house about six years ago, and it meant everything to him. It was his first home- something he worked incredibly hard for—and now it’s all gone.

If you know Johnny, you know the kind of person he is. He’s one of the most hardworking and selfless people out there. As the owner of Santoro’s Pizza in Wareham since 2008, Johnny and his family have spent nearly two decades serving this community and showing up for others without hesitation. Now, it’s our turn to show up for him.

Right now, with insurance still being figured out, he’s facing the overwhelming reality of starting from scratch. He needs help replacing essentials and getting back on his feet during this unbelievably difficult time.
