This year has been devastating for our family friend Johana, a mother of two boys (ages 2 & 11). Earlier this year, her husband was unjustly deported by ICE, leaving her to face pregnancy and motherhood alone with no family support in the U.S.

Despite everything, Johana worked until the end, holding onto hope for her first baby girl. On December 17, she rushed to the hospital due to complications. Tragically, her baby did not survive. Johana is now grieving, recovering from a C-section, and facing funeral expenses, rent, childcare, and time off work.
