Jim Ryan is 90 years old and blind. He lives in Welches, Oregon, near Mount Hood, a place he and his wife Kitty loved deeply.

Jim and Kitty shared a classic love story that spanned decades. Kitty passed away from cancer five years ago. Ten years ago, Jim also lost his son, a loss no parent should ever have to endure.

Since then, Jim’s grandsons, who are currently working while finishing their college degrees, have been helping care for him, making sure he is safe, fed, and not alone. They do this quietly, out of love, while balancing school, work, and the weight of responsibility that comes with caring for a grandfather in his nineties.

On Christmas Day, two neighbors filmed a short conversation with Jim as he spoke lovingly about Kitty. That video unexpectedly went viral, touching millions of people around the world. The response has been overwhelming and full of kindness.
