The other day I was in our local Gavin's Ace Hardware Store on San Carlos, Fort Myers. As usual the cashier Nancy Perkins was so pleasant and helpful. We did talk for a moment. She was having difficulty catching breath during words. I asked if she was ok. She told me she has been trying to repair her 1980's mobile home herself. Her husband passed away over a year ago. She said she has been crawling under to try and support the sinking bathroom. She said mold is talking over and she is trying to do the work herself between work shifts.
If I did not ask, you would never know the problems she is going through. She is always smiling and happy. I would love to surprise her with funds to help her make necessary repairs to make her home habitable. If it is not too much to ask, when the campaign is over I would love to show up and some shovels and plants and whatever everyone thinks to make her home feel fresh and inviting. I'm sure all my neighbors know her as we all shop there. Thank you to all my neighbors in Ft. Myers/Cape Coral who have provided input for this campaign on NEXTDOOR.
