Helping Freddie learn to walk
Donation protected
Hi, we're Chris & Emily, and we've set up this gofundme to raise money to help our daughter Freddie learn to walk.
Freddie is 3.5yrs old; when she was 4mths she was diagnosed with a genetic condition called 7q11.23 which causes significant developmental delays, among other things - she's non-verbal, has cognitive delays and has been getting around mainly by crawling and 'bum shuffling'. We've been taking her to physical therapy for almost three years now with excellent results.
At our first session this year, we used a device called a Trans-Linguistic Neural Stimulator (TLNS). This device sits on the tongue and stimulates the centres of the brain associated with balance and movement, which has been proven through research to amplify therapy results. After adding the TLNS to our sessions, Freddie progressed from being unable to stand unassisted to pulling herself up on furniture to stand and walk along in a matter of weeks.
We were absolutely blown away by how much using the TLNS helped during her sessions and wanted to get one of our own to use at home and continue this progress. We aim to get her walking independently. Unfortunately, the TLNS is not covered by NDIS, so we must purchase one ourselves. They're currently unavailable in Australia, so we'll need to order one wholesale via the manufacturer in the US.
This is where YOU come in. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated; every dollar will get us closer to our goal of helping Freddie progress further with her walking and other therapies.
