2020, a crazy year – but let’s give vulnerable kids a shot
2020 has been a year unlike any other. The world has been upended by the fallout of the pandemic. Whatever you think of the current situation, like me, most of you will be all-too aware that many children have been unintentionally affected by the crisis.
Most children have been unable to attend classes in a normal manner and many don’t have access to the internet and, therefore, unable to even receive online learning. Added to this, the economy in many countries around the world has collapsed adding further significant hardships, including severe child hunger – even in developed major economies! This isn’t about politics or opinion, it’s gone far beyond that. This is about humanity. This pandemic came out of the blue and delivered a hammer blow to the world, with children being disproportionately impacted. Mistakes have been made in the handling of it. But it doesn’t matter who made the mistakes, where the virus came from, or how you think it will end. What matters is giving kids a chance. No child should go hungry or lack education.
This is a unifying important issue. Something we can all agree on and get behind.
With this in mind, I’d like us all to contribute to raising funds or giving funds directly to help charities and schools to improve the life chances and opportunities of vulnerable children.
Personally, I’m going to attempt 15,000 kettlebell swings in November. A standard challenge is 10,000 in 30 days. My target is at least 15,000.
Please sponsor me per 1,000 swings to encourage me to do as many as possible.
Please also consider a challenge yourself and deVere will publicise your personal challenge to raise money for children impacted by the crisis. Let’s quit just talking about the madness and do something to combat it. Let’s take action. Let’s not walk on by. I’m going to put my money where my mouth is.
