My name is Dr. Steve Terranova and I've been blessed to be a part of a wonderful young man's life as an adopted big brother/uncle to him since 2007. In the years since, I've gotten to watch 'J' grow up and during that time he has faced some significant tribulations and challenges along the way. During his journey, he made the same kind of mistakes which many of us who've grown up in high crime, low income areas have made and he was ultimately held accountable for those choices.
I can say for a fact that I have never been more proud of anyone than I was of 'J' during that time as he accepted responsibility for his actions, paid his dues, put his faith in God, pursued education, and held his head high and conducted himself as a man with honor and dignity. In the time since he has been home, 'J' married a lovely young woman who had stood by- and supported him during this time and they are blessed to have a baby on the way in the coming months who will be joining their family.
'J' has been working as a diesel fuel truck driver for a petroleum company but he doesn't have transportation of his own right now and lives in a city with limited public transportation so he has frequently forced to use ride-sharing services which are often expensive. Without any credit history, he has found it difficult to be able to get a decent vehicle which he needs to get to work and to get his wife to their OBGYN appointments.
We aren't looking to get him a sports car or anything elaborate, just something dependable and reliable enough to get them around as he keeps working and getting his feet firmly on the ground.
Anything you can do to help this young man and his family would be an incredible blessing. I'm putting down the base and I'm praying that we can double or even triple that amount. If we could raise even $5-$10 from enough folks I know that this would go a long way to helping this young man who is just trying to make the best out of the second chance he has earned.
