4 month old Akiro needs liver transplant
Donation protected
Psalm 41:3 - The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health.
I am helping to raise funds for my niece’s son Akiro, who was prematurely born on Oct 23, 2020. His pediatrician noted that he has jaundice when they were taking him home and, in most cases, it goes away. For Akiro, it has only gotten worse as he has been in and out of the hospital because of his condition.
On February 13, 2021, he was rushed and admitted to the Children’s Medical Center and was later diagnosed with biliary atresia. Biliary atresia is a condition in infants where the bile ducts- the tubes inside and outside the liver- are blocked*. Bile is a fluid produced by the liver that carries toxins and waste out of the body and helps digest fats and absorb vitamins. Since the bile can’t flow into the intestine, it builds up in the liver and damages it.
On February 23, 2021, Akiro's hepatologist broke the news that he will need an immediate liver transplant to survive due to his deteriorating health. This young man does not know the battle that’s ahead of him, a battle that has become all too familiar to each of us especially this last year, a battle to fight a deadly disease if not treated. A liver transplant will give him hope to live and tell the tale, but will only be the start of his long journey to recovery.
Akiro's hospital and medical bills and the cost of special necessities to sustain his life has been skyrocketing. His loving parents Angela and Jason Wicas do not have health insurance which makes it more difficult to navigate the financial burden that was unexpectedly forced upon them. Please help us raise money to get Akiro healthy, anything you are willing to donate will be graciously accepted. If you are not in a position to donate, all I ask is you repost or forward this to your friends and family.
I do not take this ask lightly, we will forever be indebted to your generosity so I respectfully request any and all assistance to help them with this battle. God bless your heart and thank you in advance to all of you for your support and contribution.
