Support Homeless Students in Need at GSU
Donation protected
Last year there were at least 85 homeless students at Georgia State University.
For over four years, the on-campus network for students at GSU has served homeless students in any way possible: housing assistance, food, school supplies etc. In addition, this network aims to assist students in planning for longer term needs such as securing employment, financial literacy, scholarships, tutoring, academic planning and life skills. With an operating budget of $0, the committed GSU employees behind this network reached and supported 85 (self-identified) students in the 2017-18 academic year alone. In an effort to expand this network’s influence on campus, we are asking for your financial sponsorship. Donations will go directly to students’ needs, allowing the team to:
Purchase toiletries for immediate student use
Maintain an emergency food supply
Provide funds for school-related costs (textbooks, fees, supplies, etc.)
Place students in housing at no cost to them
Address any other unforeseen needs that may interfere with students’ education
On top of meeting students’ immediate needs, a donation to this campaign will enable students to learn on a level playing field. For every textbook bought, every meal provided, and every night spent in a warm room, a student becomes closer to reaching graduation and each progression toward graduation embodies a departure from the hardships of homelessness.
As a GSU student myself, I cannot wait to see this campaign impact the lives of my peers and I thank you in advance for your generosity and ask you to share the campaign on social media using #homelessstudents.
