Adopt-a-family USVI Project
FROM HAZEL:
In honor of my Bat Mitvah, I am doing a Tikkun Olam service project (Tikkun Olam means "repair the world). My uncle Steve has lived on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands for over 30 years. In September, St. Thomas, along with many other islands in the area was hit by not one but two devastating hurricaines within days of each other. St. Thomas is an amazingly beautiful place and I got to visit 2 summers ago.
Many families lost everything including their homes.
For my project, I am working with an organization called Adopt-a-Family and I hope that with your help, I will be able to pack and send 36 boxes to help the people of St. Thomas get basic supplies.
For your donation of $50, I will pack and ship a box of supplies through the Adopt-a-family organization - that is about $13 to ship the flat rate box and about $37 worth of supplies. Friends here in Atlanta will help me buy and pack the boxes for shipping - all you need to do is "sponsor a box" with a gift of $50. If you want to sponsor more than one box, please make a gift of $50 per box.
If you prefer to help by adopting a family yourself, go to http://www.adoptafamilyusvi.com/ and register to do it yourself (take a photo of your box so I can add it to the number of boxes packed).
