Hello beautiful humans!
My name is Ashley and I am earning a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health with a minor in African Stuides and Human Rights. I was awarded the largest scholarship to visit Keta, Ghana this summer from my school. I worked extremely hard to earn this by getting all A's this entire year on top of constant community service.
We will be working with poor, rural communities, conducting health clinic outreach campaigns, teaching health education regarding nutrition and sanitation — and will be involved in a variety of infrastructure initiatives related to public health. The trip runs from August 18th to September 3rd.
The scholarship I received covers the cost of the program fee, but does not cover airline tickets, immunizations, travel documents, or personal expenses. By my calculations, I will need an additonal $2,500 to afford this opportunity. The ticket alone costs $1300.
I will be putting 10% of all and any donations I recieve towards to the local community in Keta. This additional 10% will be used to for the local residents, infrastructure supplies, and the health clinic itself.

Also, it is extremely helpful if individuals or families could particpate in a "donation a day." Anyone who is interested, please contact me. Usually, someone will donate a certain amount a day, i.e. my mom will donate $5 for every day I am in Ghana. That is an $85 donation!
This Ghana expedition will be life changing. Besides the fact that it will be incredibly humbling, this expereience will be help me apply to graudate schools and receive internships in the next few years. I am INCREDIBLY thankful for anyone who donates towards my trip.
